What is MTA?
Medium Term Accommodation (MTA), part of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), is a type of transitional accommodation for NDIS participants who are waiting to be moved into their long term permanent home.
NDIS funds MTA for eligible participants for up to 90 days - such that participants are not forced into aged care facilities or having to wait in the hospital longer than they need to.
Conditions
NDIS only fund Medium Term Accommodation if:
-
you have a confirmed long term housing solution, and
-
you’re waiting for your disability related supports so you can move in to your long term housing solution.

For example, you might be waiting for:
-
home modifications to be ready
-
assistive technology to arrive
-
your confirmed Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) to be available.
How does the funding works for MTA?
Medium Term Accommodation only covers the accommodation costs of where you stay. Other expenses such as daily living costs (food, internet, electricity bills etc) will be self covered.

However, in exceptional circumstance, NDIS will fund for other supports inclusive of assistive technology, extra support you need during your stay and support needed to move into your MTA.
